Educational Support
for Isolated Students

The Aussie Helpers Volunteers for Isolated Student Education (AHVise) program is an educational volunteer organisation that connects retired teachers, tutors and homestay volunteers ‘AHVISE angels’ with distance education students in remote Australia.

AHVise is able to provide educational support to geographically isolated families thanks to its dedicated team of volunteer tutors from all around Australia. Tutors can experience life on the farm by providing in-person tutoring or support learning via an online service.

The only initiative of its kind in Australia, AHVise is funded by not-for-profit Aussie Helpers.
All funds raised go towards subsidising tutor travel costs and the administrative costs of running the program.

Volunteering

AHVise volunteers are retired teachers, teaching aids, educational assistants and others with appropriate work of life experience.

Tutors and Angels volunteer their time to teach students who wouldn’t otherwise have access to dedicated teaching assistance.

As part of the program volunteers are given the option to provide tutoring in person on the family’s property or online.

The AHVise program is a really fantastic way to give back and it doesn’t really take that much. The students benefit so much, but I think I benefitted far more than I could ever imagine. We all have time, so why not give it to people who need it? It makes the students so happy, and it makes me happy to share my knowledge with others.
