Denise Baker

Hi

I’m a 64 year old former teacher retiring at the end of Sept 2020. For the last 25 years I have worked in Education central office in the fields of vocational education design, leadership, performance and staff development and delivery of staff training. Prior to this I worked in primary schools as a classroom teacher (4.5 years), physical education teacher (3 years), music specialist (1 year), teacher consultant (TC) in alcohol and drug education (4 years) and TC in physical education/music (1 year) .  I also lectured for 3 years in health educational and physical education at what is now a university.

Over the last 15 years I have supported 2 children with their schoolwork and continue to work with one as she is now undertaking enrolled nurse training. I enjoy the fun of working with children and seeing them succeed.

My eldest sister years ago was a tutor for VISE from far north Qld, and she enjoyed it enormously.  I thought it would be a rich experience and a way to assist other people.
