Erin Carter

I am 21 years old, and have been working with children for 5 years, my love for working with children began on an Educational Farm (which I have been working on for the 5 years), in which takes school groups on tours to show them the inner workings of a farm, as well as help the children understand a farms importance. Alongside this, I worked in before and after care for 1 year, as well as I am currently working in a school holiday program/creche (started in 2015). In 2016 I volunteered in a school Literacy Program in which helped children who were struggling to read, over the course of the year I saw many of my students become confident readers, who at the beginning of the program were struggling merely with letter sounds, and by the end could read words like pneumogastric or psychosomatic. I also volunteer with Challenge, an organisation that supports children with cancer, through this I have attended camps and school holiday programs. I also tutored a 7 year old boy for a couple of months, however had to discontinue due to moving homes. Having studied Education for 4 years, I have also participated in 6 placements (childcare, kindergarten and Primary School), through this I have seen first hand the inner workings of the schooling system, and have also taught within classrooms.
